This is one of the hardest days on the hike in and Terri has been up most of the night with the “Khumbu revenge”. This morning she was still very sick and could not keep anything down. I felt we should probably stay another day but we were persuaded she would feel better as the day went on. That was not the case. Most of the first part of the day was not very uphill. The Sherpas actually hurry ahead and fixed lunch by the river. I could definitely get use to this. Unfortunately Terri was feeling no better and was quickly becoming dehydrated. After a couple of hours in the heat on a very steep section she was spent. As fortune would have it a young man came by with a small horse. The first we had seen and we hired him to ride here the rest of the way. By tonight she was feeling better and the horse has become a source of immense amusement among our gang. I have told everyone that I am coming back to start a new business “Khumbu Horse Rentals”. After today I could sign up a lot of people but fortunately we have two days here at 10,500 to acclimatize and rest.
