Camp 2
Since Bud is barely able to get a signal with his sat phone, he asked me to let you know where he is in his progress.
I talked with Bud this morning and could hear the wind blowing over the mouthpiece of the phone. The winds are estimated at 40 – 50 mph and many of the tents at Camp 2 were blown away. Bud and Pushonga stayed through the night anyway.
The summit is visible from Camp 2. It serves as a very timely reminder of what they are all striving for.
They will stay another night there, if I understood him correctly and then go back down to Base Camp.
Now, the wait will begin for a window of opportunity with the weather for them to push for a summit. Bud sounded so matter of fact in that. But, I feel really excited. He feels good and sounds good.
I guess I should feel a little guilty. I am down at the beach on Okaloosa Island (outside of Destin, Florida.) The sun is shining, a nice breeze is blowing and I will leave in a few minutes to go have breakfast and read the Sunday paper. I have indoor plumbing, hot water, etc. It really just reminds me of why we sometimes take separate vacations!
Bud will send us an update as soon as he arrives back at Base Camp.
Terri
