Namche Bazaar to Tengbouche

Yesterday we made the hike to Tengbouche at 12,500 feet. The last stretch was pretty tiring but not as bad as the Namche Hill. We crossed through Tengbouche, which is very exposed and camped several hundred meters lower in the forest. There had been some rain and the trail down was muddy and apt to embarass. Terri did very well. She was actually able to carry her pack all the way. She is getting stronger ever mile. The porters fixed lunch for us by the river. This is unlike any expedition I have ever been on. Someone does everything along the way and although it is tents and primitive facilities the Sherpas are wonderful. I think I have actually put on weight. Soon enough I will be moving above base camp and back to Bud cooking what I can carry. So I am enjoying it while I can. We have yet to be rained on. That is pretty rare but after tomorrow we will be above the rain zone. We take one rest day here to continue to acclimatize to the increasing altitude. It is pretty cold at night and those big down sleeping bags are a real blessing.
