Base Camp

We are spending our second day here but the living conditions are pretty extreme. Terri has taken a couple of falls and is scared to go out in darkness. I am pretty careful myself. The trekkers have one more day here after today but I think it is time for Terri to go lower. She has climbed her Everest and there is no need to suffer here any longer. People are always amazed that I will only spend a few minutes at the top before heading down if I should be so fortunate as to make it to the top. It just doesn’t seem right that most climbers will only spend 15 or 20 minutes at the top after all the money and time and effort. The best I can say is it isn’t about the view. It would have been a lot easier (and cheaper) to have rented an airplane to fly over the top. No it is about getting to the top not living there. After that I will be going home as fast as my legs and pocketbook can take me. One more day of soaking in this awful place and I will take her down to Lobuche to await the other trekkers who will come the following day.
